Trying to decide which of the Europe 72 performances is the best. I just can't do it but I can tell you this show would be a contender.Sparkling sound quality for a sparkling show. Every song bristles with energy.

It's hard to pick standout performances but for me the Mr. Charlie had me subconsciously tapping my foot from the first beat. The Casey Jones was an outstanding performance. Others have commented already but that LLR deserves more props.. probably the finest performance of that song I've ever heard (could be the pedal steel). And that Dark Star! Absolutely incredible and may be my favourite of the tour. I could go on and on so I won't but be sure to check this show out!
Of course, thanks again to Charlie Miller for this gorgeous piece of music being available and sounding so great (btw, the patches in DS actually add to it.. very cool, trippy effect on both switches)

Got '72 on my mind and I gotta hear a good show. Probably my favorite Dark Star from the tour. Just love this show, it's great. I really can't wait for the '72 box-set after hearing this. Man they were really just on fire on this tour!

Cumberland is not worth having really, and as mentioned Donna is getting that "someone yanked my cats tail" effect on GDTRFB. Other than that its a really fine show. LLR is fine with the lovely pedal steel as mentioned. And Dark Star! How tasty. No offense to Charlie Miller on the Cumberland but it is really crappy.

Too bad about Donna's vocals on Goin' Down the Road.

The CM mix is almost always the standard. But it's worth comparing a version that exposes and supposedly fixes pitch/speed issues. And the Bertha mix can often improve shows. Since both the Slany and Ashley used SHNID 34552 as the basis, it was worth listening for the 'improvements' in both compared to the original. I couldn't find them. The CM version is the one in my collection.

I take my hat off to the editing job by Charlie Miller on this show. He makes an art out of patching in FM and alt SBD where needed. This Cumberland Blues completely steps, and without the meticulous work of CM it would be omitted (or have a so many long drop-outs as to be truly unlistenable).

Love it. Love it to death. Thanks Mr. Charlie Miller for telling us so!!!! This is my all time, bar none favorite show. Looks like Rain!!!! Not one of my usual favorites, but this one is sweet. Dark Star is kickin'. All of these songs are played as if their life depended on it. I also think this was the best of the Europe 72 shows. LISTEN to this before its all shut down, its too good not to be a Dick's Pick's or something other very soon....Peace my brothers and sisters.

I love the Dark Star from 4/8 at Wembley but this may well beat it! The Dead in Darkstar make their music sound like a living thing. Amazing and really beautiful.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Pipgen's organ is relatively up in the mix and he and Keith really compliment each other and the band. Billy K. is freed up by being the only drummer and Jerry, Bob, Phil et al seem telepathically linked throughout the show. This is one of the best from Europe '72 and indeed their entire career. As an extra added bonus it's really well recorded/mixed.

What a stretch of beautiful music that I wish I could have seen.

This gold standard show is not only a contender for best performance of the tour, it's likely among the best shows ever performed by the band. Both intense and energetic, the show is brilliant from start to finish. Virtually every song is a standout. Although less than 12 minutes in length, Playin' in the Band is a frenzied psychedelic effort. Looks Like Rain is a remarkable rendition with Jerry on the pedal steel.
Naturally the highlight of this performance is the Dark Star, with a gorgeous Feelin' Groovy Jam. The pre-verse jamming is intensely beautiful. Things start to move a bit faster after the verse, with a rather jazzy segment before Jerry again taps the 57th street bridge theme and slows it down as it rumbles into space, finally breaking down before an abrupt transition into Sugar Magnolia. Of course the Good Lovin'/Caution sandwich is also a treasure, it's well jammed and the rap by Pig might be his
finest moment on the tour. (100 pts)
